About

Hello, This is a record of our family cycle tour of the West Coast of France in the Summer 2014. We are travelling from Bristol to Dover by car and then picking up the European Bike Express coach overnight to Bayonne. Over the following two weeks we will cycle and camp our way up to Arcachon carrying all our own gear (9 days of cycling with a few rest days built in). We will then spend 3 days around the bay before heading to Bordeaux to pick up the coach for the journey home.

We are a family of 5 - Hannah is 8 and the twins Emily and Thomas are 5. They all ride on Islabikes and love them! I'm on my faithful 'Claude Butler' tourer which I got for my 18th Birthday and Adrian is on a mountain bike towing the trailer. Hannah is carrying all her own gear in 3 panniers. The twins just have front bags with their special things in - I am carrying the rest of their gear in my font panniers. The trailer carries the tent, cooking equipment, bike repair stuff and medical/food supplies - I have no idea how heavy it is fully packed, but it felt quite heavy lifting it into the car!!!

The picture is at the start of our practice ride at half term to Bath. 22 miles each way with a camp over night. - 22 miles is is the rough maximum distance we will cover each day in France.
