Day 2: Ondres-Plage to Vieux-Boucau-Les-Bains

Lie-in this morning following thunderstorms and rain at 3am! Got up at 8.15, had plain baguette and croissants for breakfast, packed up the tent and loaded up. We had left by 10.30am, just over two hour sounds about as quick as it's likely to get to sort out 5 people! The cycling today was great - a mixture of road, cycle lanes and cycle paths. A few small hills and a diversion due to poor map reading skills...!
Capbreton is a lovely town, here the cycle path goes down the main street on the pavement with the pedestrians which is interesting in the height of the summer season! We bought lunch (and our supplies for dinner) here and sat in a park on the lake to eat it. The road then followed through the Seignosse nature reserve - a large area of pine forests.
The campsite was easy to find and the children were surprised we had arrive so quickly! - 19.1 miles cycled today.
After putting up the tent we walked a rather long way to the lake/beach where the kids had a swim while Adrian sunbathed and I supervised from knee deep! Ice creams here in Vieux-Boucau-Les-Bains are delicious! Cooked our first meal tonight, a simple ratatouille with pasta, fab! Unfortunately I made a mistake with the old burner and it doesn't fit the new-style gas, so we are down to one burner for cooking this trip. Our neighbours kindly boiled a kettle for our pasta so that made it much easier. Hannah and Adrian are very tired tonight. First showers and off to bed for us all

Mina Holder - the mascots have come with us again! Dogger and Spike also get to come along for the ride!

Park stop for lunch

Ice-creams - thanks Nannie and Grandad no-beard for supplying ice-cream money!

Cooking!

Yum! - we love our collapsing plates, bowls and cups - thanks Nanna and Grandad-beard!

Route day 2: 19.1 miles
