Day 5 - rest day!!!! - Mimizan Plage

After a late night sitting out - on chairs (luxury) - enjoying the clear evening and catching up on route planning  and reading, we all slept in. Hannah was first to wake, reading a kindle. Hannah and I crept out at about 8.45am to buy breakfast with dreams of laying it all out on the table ready for when the others woke up. Just as we got back the heavens opened and the rain started. Very disappointing on our day off, but it is due to get brighter later. I'm glad we put the ground sheet down yesterday so we were able to sit in the porch to eat our breakfast fit for a king! Copious amounts of tea, cereal, croissants, pain ou chocolat, French bread with butter AND jam! - yum!
The children and Adrian settled down for a game of Uno, while I took  the opportunity and bought a days worth of wifi to update the blog for the first time since Dover.

Twin love! - this is what I woke up to this morning - ahh....

Playing Uno

I'll update the rest of today later before our wifi runs out.

Before we knew it it was 1.30pm and the day was fast disappearing. The weather had cleared sufficiently for us to have our lunch outside and after lunch I did some much needed washing of our pyjamas and general clothes, paid to tumble dry it and sat reading and charging phones while it dried. Adrian took the children to the pool and it did eventually clear up to be a scorching late afternoon around 3pm. I eventually made it to the pool and we all played pass the ball and there were many more trips down the slides! After showers we had a lovely tea of salad with Spanish-style sausage (with pomme frites on the side bought from the takeaway). We then took a late evening stroll down to the beach to watch the sun set. A beautiful and chilled way to end the day.... That is until this evening's entertainment - the local marching band from Mimizan - started up at 10pm - one volume.... Loud! :-) some great numbers which the children somehow managed to fall asleep to!
Back on the road tomorrow with rain and possible thunder forecast, so may be our first experience of cycling wet...

Lunch at our table!

These caterpillars descended from the trees in the second campsite and we have been finding them ever since. This little critter was in Thomas' front pannier today!

Taking a break - very sunny!

As if they haven't done enough exercise over the last few days! These exercise points are all over the campsite.

Emily photo-bombing!
It was all a bit much for mummy and daddy!

The sun came out eventually

Beautiful sunset at Mimizan Plage

The evening entertainment getting ready to play.
